Boutwell Owens Installing Highcon Euclid II+

March 5, 2015

Boutwell Owens & Co. Inc., one of America’s prestigious packaging suppliers, is in the process of installing a Highcon Euclid II+ digital cutting and creasing machine. Boutwell Owens, of Fitchburg, MA is a printing and packaging manufacturer of folding cartons and blister cards that has been in business for over 125 years. They make skin packaging, folders, inserts, and labels for the pharmaceutical, electronics, and cosmetic industries on offset, web, flexo, and digital presses. Their customer base extends across North America and into Europe and as far as the Pacific Rim.

The Euclid is being installed in a new digital room, alongside their newly purchased HP 30000 digital press.

Ward McLaughlin, President of Boutwell Owens said: “We are a progressive company, focused on helping our customers to expand and take a better position in the marketplace. With the Highcon Euclid we can offer our customers the differentiation, responsiveness and fast turnaround that no other machine can match. Digital finishing means we can finally allow the designers a free rein to throw away the old rules of development and be more adventurous. We believe that this innovative development will affect the overall future of the printing industry

Vic Stalam, President, Highcon Americas, said: “Boutwell Owens first saw the Highcon Euclid at Drupa in 2012 and have been following the progress of this technology. It is clear to us that they are a strategic customer for us and their excitement about the potential benefits they will be able to offer their clients is infectious. The ability of the Euclid to handle both offset and digitally printed work will mean they can handle the ever increasing number of short-run jobs that they have“.

The Highcon Euclid II+ is the top of the line, 2nd generation digital cutting and creasing machine for converting paper, labels, folding carton and microflute. The Euclid machines incorporate Highcon’s patented ‘DART’ (Digital Adhesive Rule Technology) to produce creases, and high-speed laser optics for cutting and etching.
